In the society, it is associated with prominence.Leaders are considered courageous, and so they are privileged to headvarious meetings and organizations. During social events, the peoplewho naturally do well are considered heroes and raised to positionsof power without opposition. The trend is consistent with historicalbooks, and even up to date the leaders chosen have to possess specialskills. In the business world, leaders are determined based on themanagement skills they possess.
Leadershipencompasses practical skills that supersede average individualability. There are some qualities that a good leader should have.Leadership as a trait has been associated with people who areprominent and courageous. Firstly, a leader should have fair and goodmanagerial practices (Rigolosi, 2013). This ensures that the juniorstaff does not conflict. Accordingto Hayes (2014), leadership is defined by those who have abilityguide subjects, co-workers, friends or even classmates. Thedefinition of leadership changes with the environment, in someinstances. One who is intellect sound, calm and down to earth isconsidered a good leader. Leaders are also entrusted with managingboth people and resources. Leaders are expected to be good timemanagers. In their practice, time management could save lives in thearea of nursing as a practice. Leadership and administration can bemerged in line with orderliness and responsibility. As a manager, oneshould accomplish a task in an organized way.
Regardlessof the background or the race, leaders are expected to possesscertain traits. They should motivate and inspire people around them.They also should be visionary and provide a way towards achievinggoals. One should also be in a position to solve disputes that arisefrom subjects, team or the general public. Good leadership skill isalso dependent on the personality of the leader. Personality is acombination of temperaments and qualities that render them uniquefrom others. Personalities differ depending on the field ofexpertise. Health care sectors need people who are patient,understanding and caring. However, these qualities are inborn and arenot developed overnight. A sick person needs an ordinarily caringperson to have a sense of belonging. One should also be anentertainer to cause humor to the ill person. A leader should beflexible to learn in the different experiences through an adventure(Gundling et al, 2011).
Leadershipoffers a guide in the healthcare industry. Several changes take placein the industry that calls for dynamism in character. This enablesboth the leaders and personnel to adopt new procedures and equipmentas a result of improved technology. The more flexible the leaders arethe better and smoother the change. Several theories define changesin the healthcare industry. In the change theory, the stages includeunfreezing, moving and refreezing (Payne, 2013). While unfreezing,leaders identify the existing gaps through observation of the statusquo.
Inthe field of nursing and the entire health care industry, change isan inevitable process. The leaders steer the change by surveyingthrough workers and the institution. Availability of resources in theworkplace bridges the gaps, therefore, supporting the process.However, there are arising conflicts that are inevitable. This is asa result of inequality in resource distribution (Cockerham, 2014). Inthe process, social structures are created leading to inequality inwealth distribution. In the long run, the elite groups directpolicies as most resources are in their hands.
Emotionalintelligence is the ability one possesses to recognize their personalemotions or those of others. Those people who have a good emotionalintelligence can perform and are also determined to complete tasks athand. They also exhibit exemplary performance at work and also have abetter mental capacity. They are therefore considered to be betterleaders because of possessing excellent performance skills (Goleman,2006). In the field of nursing, those with a high emotionalintelligence are preferred in the area of practice. Such medicalpractitioners are looked upon by their juniors because they perform acomprehensive diagnosis.
Doctorsalso learn the primary cause of a disease before they treat thepatient. The primary reason for an ailment is the most importantrather than the secondary cause. There are several models that aid inthese tests. One of them is the mixed model that uses a variety ofskills such as self-awareness and empathy to diagnose an illness. Atthe end of the process, the doctor uses the visionary skill that seesfuture opportunities and allows one to think holistically in all lifeaspects (Gundling et al, 2011).

Asa result of dynamic practices used by personnel in the healthcareindustry, there is an adoption of new procedures that are inevitable.Adopting new technology is important to implement changes in trainingand human resource development. When technology is applied, conflictsarise that can act as a hindrance to change. The leaders are usefulas they settle conflicts to exploit the changes efficiently. They setthe pace and create an environment for a smooth and gradualtransition. Leaders are vital in all processes of change (Payne,2013).
Whenchanges are taking place in the nursing industry, they happen indifferent aspects. The changes create gaps that act as the drivingforces for a change in the procedures or machinery. This creates anopportunity for growth and development of technology. Growth in thisdimension ensures increased effectiveness in the practical field(Hayes, 2014). Junior staffs are very necessary for implementingchanges as it helps to suppress opposition.

Leadersapply technology to increase efficiency in their practice. They alsoinclude their juniors to promote teamwork in the hospital. Theirinclusion also accelerates adoption of the new processes and apositive attitude towards new procedures. Application of thesemethods leads to positive feedback from the junior staff. Thepatients also receive better health care accorded to them by thehospital personnel and management (Payne, 2013).
Leadershipand nursing are inseparable as far as health is concerned. This isbecause exemplary performance in nursing depends on the leadershipskills applied. This ensures that trust is developed among thepatients to their service providers, in this case, the medicalpractitioners. The intelligence models aid to effect smoothperformance in the field of practice. This ensures that conflictssubside, and effectiveness of service delivery is achieved.
